Narrative:

I was flying and given clearance to cross bucko at FL250. I was at FL290. I was supposed to fly the jasen 2 into iad. When I was given the FL250 crossing restr, I looked on the arrival and saw the 'X' 25 NM west of esl that says to expect clearance to cross at FL250. This is not bucko, but the word bucko is written just above it. I planned my descent to cross this fix at FL250. However, bucko is 14 mi to the west of where I was planning to cross. As we came up on bucko and were not at FL250, center asked what we were doing. This is when I realized the mistake I had made. I should have read the arrival more carefully. The only thing I think might help is if crossing restr on arrs are named intxns rather than an unnamed X on the arrival.

Title: FLC OF A B727-100 FAILED TO MAKE XING RESTR DURING DSCNT ON STAR ARR DUE TO MISINTERP OF THE STAR PROCS CHART.

Narrative: I WAS FLYING AND GIVEN CLRNC TO CROSS BUCKO AT FL250. I WAS AT FL290. I WAS SUPPOSED TO FLY THE JASEN 2 INTO IAD. WHEN I WAS GIVEN THE FL250 XING RESTR, I LOOKED ON THE ARR AND SAW THE 'X' 25 NM W OF ESL THAT SAYS TO EXPECT CLRNC TO CROSS AT FL250. THIS IS NOT BUCKO, BUT THE WORD BUCKO IS WRITTEN JUST ABOVE IT. I PLANNED MY DSCNT TO CROSS THIS FIX AT FL250. HOWEVER, BUCKO IS 14 MI TO THE W OF WHERE I WAS PLANNING TO CROSS. AS WE CAME UP ON BUCKO AND WERE NOT AT FL250, CTR ASKED WHAT WE WERE DOING. THIS IS WHEN I REALIZED THE MISTAKE I HAD MADE. I SHOULD HAVE READ THE ARR MORE CAREFULLY. THE ONLY THING I THINK MIGHT HELP IS IF XING RESTR ON ARRS ARE NAMED INTXNS RATHER THAN AN UNNAMED X ON THE ARR.
