Narrative:

Turning aircraft into position requested by tower directed jetblast perpendicular to approach end of runway 29, a landing aircraft complained (no official report filed). Taxi mechanic's situational awareness (landing aircraft not sighted) and tower awareness of possible conflicts on field contributed to this incident. In an effort to troubleshoot or duplicate test flight gripes, a maintenance taxi was requested. After obtaining a port clearance for taxi operations, we were cleared by the tower for a taxi to the runway 29 side-step area. After holding short of taxiway west on taxiway B, tower authority/authorized a continued taxi to the runway 29 side-step area via taxiway west. Tower also gave the standard instruction to position the aircraft so as to not block departing runway 29 taxi traffic. After initiating a left (counterclockwise) turn at the runway 29 side-step area, the aircraft was stopped.
