Narrative:

I was in level cruise at 2700 ft MSL when engine began to run rough. Made an immediate turn to return to ewn. I tried to correct problem by turning on electric fuel boost pump, adjusting mixture, and from both to left magneto. None of these actions solved the problem. As the engine began to turn rougher, I told ewn tower that I had an emergency, did not think I could make ewn airport, and was landing at mcolf oak grove (13NC). Landing was made in normal manner with no damage to the airplane. I believe I did the correct thing by not trying to reach my home airport, but landed at an available field within range with no damage even though it was a military field.
