Narrative:

Upon clearing runway at approximately XA30 after a normal/stable approach, the captain noticed what appeared to be a dragging brake. The flight engineer called operations to obtain a mechanic for a visual inspection and was informed that our maintenance representative was not available until XB00 hours. Captain decided to taxi clear of the taxiway and then, since taxi appeared somewhat normal, continued to the gate. We were marshalled in normally. Fire personnel were called upon gate arrival by ground personnel. Report of smoke/fire received via mechanic entering cockpit as passenger disembarked. Fire was reported out shortly thereafter by the mechanic. A fire/rescue appeared shortly thereafter and wanted all personnel off the aircraft so they could push it back from the gate. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the problem was not antiskid or brake failure, but a hydraulic leak on the main landing gear spraying hydraulic fluid on the hot brakes. The reporter said on the gate the hydraulic fluid started to smoke heavily with fire but was quickly put out.

Narrative: UPON CLRING RWY AT APPROX XA30 AFTER A NORMAL/STABLE APCH, THE CAPT NOTICED WHAT APPEARED TO BE A DRAGGING BRAKE. THE FE CALLED OPS TO OBTAIN A MECH FOR A VISUAL INSPECTION AND WAS INFORMED THAT OUR MAINT REPRESENTATIVE WAS NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL XB00 HRS. CAPT DECIDED TO TAXI CLR OF THE TXWY AND THEN, SINCE TAXI APPEARED SOMEWHAT NORMAL, CONTINUED TO THE GATE. WE WERE MARSHALLED IN NORMALLY. FIRE PERSONNEL WERE CALLED UPON GATE ARR BY GND PERSONNEL. RPT OF SMOKE/FIRE RECEIVED VIA MECH ENTERING COCKPIT AS PAX DISEMBARKED. FIRE WAS RPTED OUT SHORTLY THEREAFTER BY THE MECH. A FIRE/RESCUE APPEARED SHORTLY THEREAFTER AND WANTED ALL PERSONNEL OFF THE ACFT SO THEY COULD PUSH IT BACK FROM THE GATE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE PROB WAS NOT ANTISKID OR BRAKE FAILURE, BUT A HYD LEAK ON THE MAIN LNDG GEAR SPRAYING HYD FLUID ON THE HOT BRAKES. THE RPTR SAID ON THE GATE THE HYD FLUID STARTED TO SMOKE HEAVILY WITH FIRE BUT WAS QUICKLY PUT OUT.
