Narrative:
Approach descended us to 1500 ft vectoring us down the coast line. They turned us to 270 degrees and I believe they cleared us for visual approach to runway 27. We were about 3 1/2 - 4 mi out. I told them we were high. He said 'you can't make it from there.' we proceeded the visual and landed uneventfully. The approach was a maximum effort at the end of a long day, resulting in most of approach being unspooled engines. Fix would have been if approach would have given a lower final.
