Narrative:

I was offered a chance to get some cheap multi-time in an apache. The owner offered to fly with me and 'show me the ropes,' and then I would get a formal check-out from an instructor. The owner had business at F18, so we departed gky (arlington, tx) for F18 (cleburn, tx). He would fly there and I would fly back. The trip over was uneventful, but the trip back started badly. The owner was in a hurry, and as he was on the left side and there were no brakes on the right side, he took the taxi duties. He elected to do an intersection takeoff, something I never do. We did have sufficient runway. I was running the checklist, and the owner wanted to go. So he taxied on the runway surface and ran up power and released brakes, while I was still running the checklist. He said 'your airplane' and I took the controls. A glance outside after putting the checklist down and I realized we were taking off on the middle taxiway. I pulled back the power and called for an abort. The owner pushed the throttles forward and said go. I had no brakes on my side and we were passing through 60 mph. I had to complete the takeoff. I was very upset, and called on the phone to apologize after the flight. At this time I do not plan to fly with this gentleman again. Rushing pre-takeoff checklist and procedures is dangerous.
