Narrative:
The flight was from eglin AFB (vps), fl, to crestview (cew). At crestview, I picked up a passenger, but forgot to close my flight plan. Then I went to a near-by private field (bauer-skyranch) without a flight plan. I did not realize that I forgot to close my flight plan at cew until I got home at about XA30. When I noticed the calls on my answering machine. At that time, I responded to the calls from the military and the FAA. I normally fly IFR, so I am not used to closing flight plans. In the future, I plan to put the statement 'close flight plan' on my engine shutdown checklist.
