Narrative:

I was required by my company to perform an engine run-up on the ramp in accordance with our maintenance manual, with passenger onboard while operating under far 121. I then signed off a logbook entry, the engine run-up was normal. I feel that there may be a conflict that occupying a seat as a crew member (pfe) and using my a&P certificate to sign off an entry in the logbook after pushback under far 121, as a company mechanic. It is clear to me that the far's are vague in this area. Clear guidance is needed.
