Narrative:

Lga using runway 13 for takeoffs. ATIS 'P' calling winds 040 degree at 8 KTS, pushed back from gate at xa:41Z, approximately #10 in sequence for takeoff. When cleared into position and hold, tower advised wind now 340 degree at 15 KTS did not consult performance data to calculate tailwind component, instead did quick and rough mental calculation and concluded tailwind component was within limitations. Takeoff was normal. Later in flight, double checked performance charts and realized tailwind component was in excess of certificate aom limitations. Mistake was in allowing perceived ATC and schedule pressure to rush me into not consulting performance data and making mental miscalculation.

Title: DC9 CREW DEPARTING LGA ACCEPT RWY WITH TAILWIND COMPONENT.

Narrative: LGA USING RWY 13 FOR TKOFS. ATIS 'P' CALLING WINDS 040 DEGREE AT 8 KTS, PUSHED BACK FROM GATE AT XA:41Z, APPROX #10 IN SEQUENCE FOR TKOF. WHEN CLRED INTO POS AND HOLD, TWR ADVISED WIND NOW 340 DEGREE AT 15 KTS DID NOT CONSULT PERFORMANCE DATA TO CALCULATE TAILWIND COMPONENT, INSTEAD DID QUICK AND ROUGH MENTAL CALCULATION AND CONCLUDED TAILWIND COMPONENT WAS WITHIN LIMITATIONS. TKOF WAS NORMAL. LATER IN FLT, DOUBLE CHKED PERFORMANCE CHARTS AND REALIZED TAILWIND COMPONENT WAS IN EXCESS OF CERTIFICATE AOM LIMITATIONS. MISTAKE WAS IN ALLOWING PERCEIVED ATC AND SCHEDULE PRESSURE TO RUSH ME INTO NOT CONSULTING PERFORMANCE DATA AND MAKING MENTAL MISCALCULATION.
