Narrative:

The arm rest at xc sticks out into the aisle 10 inches more than the arm rest at yc. As I was backing up the aisle, pulling the loaded meal cart, I backed into the arm rest at xc. I fell sideways against the passenger sitting in xc. The cart rolled onto the top of the top left of my foot with the brake pedal. This left a 1/4 inch open wound. We quite often run into this arm rest, so obviously the design is poor, however, I'm not quite sure how it could be corrected. An engineer should be able to figure it out. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the arm rest actually does stick out 8-10 inches from the row in front. This is due to the seat confign going from 4 abreast to 5 abreast. The cart rolled onto her foot, causing her to fall onto the shoulder of the man sitting in the aisle seat. Her foot wasn't bleeding enough for the captain to divert the plane for medical help. It swelled to the size of a walnut, and she was unable to continue her duties.

Title: CABIN ATTENDANT RPT, B777, ZURICH-DFW. DESIGN FLAW IN LOCATION OF ARM REST AT ROW CHANGE FROM 4 TO 5 ABREAST SEATS, ARM PROTRUDES INTO AISLE 8-10 INCHES. CABIN ATTENDANT INJURY.

Narrative: THE ARM REST AT XC STICKS OUT INTO THE AISLE 10 INCHES MORE THAN THE ARM REST AT YC. AS I WAS BACKING UP THE AISLE, PULLING THE LOADED MEAL CART, I BACKED INTO THE ARM REST AT XC. I FELL SIDEWAYS AGAINST THE PAX SITTING IN XC. THE CART ROLLED ONTO THE TOP OF THE TOP L OF MY FOOT WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ARM REST ACTUALLY DOES STICK OUT 8-10 INCHES FROM THE ROW IN FRONT. THIS IS DUE TO THE SEAT CONFIGN GOING FROM 4 ABREAST TO 5 ABREAST. THE CART ROLLED ONTO HER FOOT, CAUSING HER TO FALL ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE MAN SITTING IN THE AISLE SEAT. HER FOOT WASN'T BLEEDING ENOUGH FOR THE CAPT TO DIVERT THE PLANE FOR MEDICAL HELP. IT SWELLED TO THE SIZE OF A WALNUT, AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO CONTINUE HER DUTIES.
