Narrative:

ATC cleared me to descend from 5000 ft to 3000 ft. I acknowledged and called airport in sight and canceled IFR. Upon departing VFR controller asked if I was canceling IFR and that I had held the airport closed for 45 mins. It seemed to be radio reception on his end. I heard my flight number but could not definitely hear his reply. I may have mistaken his recall for an acknowledgment of my cancellation.

Narrative: ATC CLRED ME TO DSND FROM 5000 FT TO 3000 FT. I ACKNOWLEDGED AND CALLED ARPT IN SIGHT AND CANCELED IFR. UPON DEPARTING VFR CTLR ASKED IF I WAS CANCELING IFR AND THAT I HAD HELD THE ARPT CLOSED FOR 45 MINS. IT SEEMED TO BE RADIO RECEPTION ON HIS END. I HEARD MY FLT NUMBER BUT COULD NOT DEFINITELY HEAR HIS REPLY. I MAY HAVE MISTAKEN HIS RECALL FOR AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF MY CANCELLATION.
