Narrative:

GPWS warning. Leveling off at 12000 ft received a GPWS too low terrain warning. Initiated escape maneuver and notified ATC. Warning terminated at 12500 ft leveled at 12600 ft and returned to 12000 ft. ATC advised there was no conflicting traffic or potential of terrain in that area 'obvious.' no further problems. No further discussion with ATC.

Title: F100 CREW HAD A FALSE GPWS WARNING AT 1200 FT IN ZTL CLASS E.

Narrative: GPWS WARNING. LEVELING OFF AT 12000 FT RECEIVED A GPWS TOO LOW TERRAIN WARNING. INITIATED ESCAPE MANEUVER AND NOTIFIED ATC. WARNING TERMINATED AT 12500 FT LEVELED AT 12600 FT AND RETURNED TO 12000 FT. ATC ADVISED THERE WAS NO CONFLICTING TFC OR POTENTIAL OF TERRAIN IN THAT AREA 'OBVIOUS.' NO FURTHER PROBS. NO FURTHER DISCUSSION WITH ATC.
