Narrative:

Temporary DME malfunction gave wrong distance from den VOR. However, using cross fix from jeffco and falon vors showed we were well clear of class B airspace. Just to be safe, or in case of mode C malfunction, I have filed a NASA report. No need for corrective action.

Title: A HIGH TIME CFI EXPERIENCED A TEMPORARY DME MALFUNCTION, CAUSING HIM TO WONDER IF HE VIOLATED DEN'S CLASS B. UTILIZING 2 XING VORS, HE DETERMINED THAT HE WAS WELL CLR.

Narrative: TEMPORARY DME MALFUNCTION GAVE WRONG DISTANCE FROM DEN VOR. HOWEVER, USING CROSS FIX FROM JEFFCO AND FALON VORS SHOWED WE WERE WELL CLR OF CLASS B AIRSPACE. JUST TO BE SAFE, OR IN CASE OF MODE C MALFUNCTION, I HAVE FILED A NASA RPT. NO NEED FOR CORRECTIVE ACTION.
