Narrative:

We departed hpn, contacted departure and proceeded to level off at 4000 ft MSL. After leveloff, departure asked us to state our indicated altitude. We responded 4000 ft. Departure then told us to check our altimeter settings and provided us with a current altimeter settings upon inserting the current altimeter setting we discovered the aircraft was approximately 300 ft higher than originally indicated. The aircraft was returned to 4000 ft. It was then determined that neither the captain or myself had set or checked the current altimeter setting prior to departure from hpn, thus resulting in our approximately 300 ft deviation from assigned altitude.

Title: ALT OVERSHOOT.

Narrative: WE DEPARTED HPN, CONTACTED DEP AND PROCEEDED TO LEVEL OFF AT 4000 FT MSL. AFTER LEVELOFF, DEP ASKED US TO STATE OUR INDICATED ALT. WE RESPONDED 4000 FT. DEP THEN TOLD US TO CHK OUR ALTIMETER SETTINGS AND PROVIDED US WITH A CURRENT ALTIMETER SETTINGS UPON INSERTING THE CURRENT ALTIMETER SETTING WE DISCOVERED THE ACFT WAS APPROX 300 FT HIGHER THAN ORIGINALLY INDICATED. THE ACFT WAS RETURNED TO 4000 FT. IT WAS THEN DETERMINED THAT NEITHER THE CAPT OR MYSELF HAD SET OR CHKED THE CURRENT ALTIMETER SETTING PRIOR TO DEP FROM HPN, THUS RESULTING IN OUR APPROX 300 FT DEV FROM ASSIGNED ALT.
