Narrative:

I was PNF copying ATIS and listening to ATC, I looked up to see the lear cross below us/head on. I noticed the PF was 300 ft low and called altitude as the PF arrested the descent. I estimate that had we not arrested the descent that a collision was probable. No traffic alert was issued.

Title: A CPR FLC FLYING AN MU300 NEAR DET AT 18000 FT RPTS AN NMAC WITH A LEAR JET BELOW THEIR ACFT.

Narrative: I WAS PNF COPYING ATIS AND LISTENING TO ATC, I LOOKED UP TO SEE THE LEAR CROSS BELOW US/HEAD ON. I NOTICED THE PF WAS 300 FT LOW AND CALLED ALT AS THE PF ARRESTED THE DSCNT. I ESTIMATE THAT HAD WE NOT ARRESTED THE DSCNT THAT A COLLISION WAS PROBABLE. NO TFC ALERT WAS ISSUED.
