Narrative:

While on base to hawthorne airport in VFR conditions, my aircraft had a very close near miss with a helicopter. Helicopter was among 8-10 helicopters covering a warehouse fire for news media. I believe several of these aircraft were not on local tower frequency, as hawthorne had asked them to remain east of western avenue (several did). While planning landing and in visual contact with 2 helicopters that had not complied with ATC's instructions, my aircraft nearly hit a third unseen helicopter.
