Narrative:

During boarding on flight XXX, flight attendant #3 went out to start asking for predep beverages. She asked mr xy who was sitting in xa, if he would like something to drink. He immediately became irrational and demanded a whole bottle of water. She explained to him that she was not able to give him the whole bottle of water, but she would be more than happy to give him 2 glasses. He immediately threw his hand up to stop her, and said that was not ok. So the #3 flight attendant then came to me and told me we may have a problem with a passenger in xa. I then went up to tell our captain. He asked me to reapproach him, so I said ok. I went out to ask if he would like something to drink. He immediately said 'yes, for the second time, I would like a bottle of water.' I then tried to explain the situation, how I agreed that if he paid $1600 for a ticket he should be entitled to a whole bottle of water, however, I was not catered to give him or any of the other 21 passenger a whole bottle of water. At that point mr xy became irrational and abrasive and told me 'it would be a lot easier on him and I if I could just give him the whole bottle of water. Otherwise he will constantly ring his flight attendant call button every min.' at that point, I said 'ok, I will try to work something out.' I then went to the captain and explained to him what had happened. He got up and made a phone call. Mr yy, flight service manager los angeles, came down and asked what was going on. Then the customer service manager came down and wanted to talk to mr X. So the customer service manager asked if he would step out onto the jetbridge. He refused, threw up his hand and said 'just leave me alone.' the customer service manager and the captain decided to pull him off. Security was called. They came and told him to get his belongings and the door was shut. Our flight departed for ord. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that she, as purser, didn't want the other flight attendant to give the man a full bottle of water because she was afraid that then everyone in first class would want one, and they did not have the provisions for that. She thought that his attitude could be a problem for the whole flight. Once she told the captain about the man, he handled it from there and she did not participate in the decision to remove him.
