Narrative:

During arrival to ont on the evening of jul/xa/00, air carrier X flight xyz was given a vector to the south and a descent from 12000 ft to 10000 ft MSL. The crew completed the approach checklist and radio set-up and descended through 10000 ft to approximately 9700 ft. Upon recognizing the error, they immediately climbed to 10000 ft, at which time the approach controller cleared flight xyz to 6000 ft. Neither the crew nor the controller made any reference to the altitude deviation throughout the remainder of the flight.

Narrative: DURING ARR TO ONT ON THE EVENING OF JUL/XA/00, ACR X FLT XYZ WAS GIVEN A VECTOR TO THE S AND A DSCNT FROM 12000 FT TO 10000 FT MSL. THE CREW COMPLETED THE APCH CHKLIST AND RADIO SET-UP AND DSNDED THROUGH 10000 FT TO APPROX 9700 FT. UPON RECOGNIZING THE ERROR, THEY IMMEDIATELY CLBED TO 10000 FT, AT WHICH TIME THE APCH CTLR CLRED FLT XYZ TO 6000 FT. NEITHER THE CREW NOR THE CTLR MADE ANY REF TO THE ALTDEV THROUGHOUT THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT.
