Narrative:

Due to broken habit pattern and getting distraction with a maintenance discussion, I allowed the aircraft to be pushed off the gate with the seatbelt sign still off. The flight attendants had reported the cabin was secure and everyone was seated.

Title: AN MD82 WAS PUSHED BACK AT DEP TIME WITHOUT THE FASTEN SEATBELT SIGNS ILLUMINATED.

Narrative: DUE TO BROKEN HABIT PATTERN AND GETTING DISTR WITH A MAINT DISCUSSION, I ALLOWED THE ACFT TO BE PUSHED OFF THE GATE WITH THE SEATBELT SIGN STILL OFF. THE FLT ATTENDANTS HAD RPTED THE CABIN WAS SECURE AND EVERYONE WAS SEATED.
