Narrative:

We were on a 180 degree heading for traffic. Captain proceeded 30 degrees left, direct otk VOR, which was different from our assigned heading. ZTL questioned our heading and stated that there was no conflict, but it was close. I believe I must be more aware of the heading of the PF. I feel the captain became confused on the clearance due to all of the deviating around thunderstorms that day.
