Narrative:
Approach contacted runway 36 straight in -- repeated with plane numbers. Told to contact tower. Cleared for landing runway 36. Confirmed clearance on tower. No response. Continued calling, getting close to landing. Called 3 times. Went back to approach. Told problem. Told to call tower -- I did -- still no response. Over runway 36 and landing, contacted ground. Tower came on air and questioned why I did not call. I explained. Verified with another pilot radio. Pilot said cracking when I called -- reported radio to maintenance.
