Narrative:

On vectors to ILS runway 31 bna. Cleared for visual approach, cleared to land. Landed 9 mi short on runway 32 mqy (smyrna, tn). Tower closed, no conflicts. Departed mqy on IFR clearance without company flight release or runway analysis. Contributing factors: new base, first night for new scheduled run. Unfamiliar facilities, ground handler, mechanics, fuelers, parking, ATC, etc. Crew: captain only 15 hours left seat after IOE. Unfamiliar crew -- never flew together before. First flight after 10-15 days off. Aircraft: nonstandard aircraft -- old other airline bird. Nonstandard panel layouts. Nonstandard system -- environmental. Switch position and thrown (on/off) reversed. Cockpit in disarray from transatlantic ferry flight. Extra ferry equipment, forms and library out of order. Company preparation: aircraft not available to crew until 30 mins prior to takeoff. Charts and trip book set up for european operations, not united states domestic. ILS runway 31 bna chart missing from all books. GPS operation intermittent -- unable to initialize. Crew performance/judgement (lack of): crew allowed time and schedule to take precedence over preparation. First officer failed to voice concern over accepting approach without approach plate, and failed to suggest using alternate runway and supplied frequency off ASR plate. Captain accepted approach to ILS without plate because he wanted longer runway with GS information. Crew accepted false visual cues over proper electronic navigation tuned in and idented. Corrective action: alert company to missing charts. Disclose incidents for use in future safety briefings.
