Narrative:

We received clearance to taxi to runway 6. Captain (myself) taxied while first officer completed required checklists. Approaching the ILS hold line I slowed the aircraft down and when I confirmed it was just the ILS hold line, continued taxiing assuming the hold line was at the runway's end. The first officer returned from giving the takeoff PA and ATC called and said to hold position. We crossed the hole line, I never saw it. It was not where I expected it to be. After checking the airport diagram it was painfully obvious that runway 6 has a hold line in a slightly abnormal place. In the future, I will definitely pay much closer attention. Supplemental information from acn 478261: we received clearance to taxi to runway 6. The captain was taxiing the aircraft while I (the first officer) finished required checklists and passenger announcement. As we approached the ILS critical line, I was talking on the PA. As we passed the ILS critical hold line. I finished the PA and checklist about 10 seconds later. Ground control then called us and said we had passed the runway hold short line, but to go ahead and taxi into position and hold on runway 6. I had no idea the hold short line was so far away from the runway. An ILS critical hold you expect to be in different locations. I have never seen a runway hold short placed so far from the threshold. I should have paid closer attention while running checklist and PA.

Title: CL65 CREW HAD RWY INCURSION AT ROA.

Narrative: WE RECEIVED CLRNC TO TAXI TO RWY 6. CAPT (MYSELF) TAXIED WHILE FO COMPLETED REQUIRED CHKLISTS. APCHING THE ILS HOLD LINE I SLOWED THE ACFT DOWN AND WHEN I CONFIRMED IT WAS JUST THE ILS HOLD LINE, CONTINUED TAXIING ASSUMING THE HOLD LINE WAS AT THE RWY'S END. THE FO RETURNED FROM GIVING THE TKOF PA AND ATC CALLED AND SAID TO HOLD POS. WE CROSSED THE HOLE LINE, I NEVER SAW IT. IT WAS NOT WHERE I EXPECTED IT TO BE. AFTER CHKING THE ARPT DIAGRAM IT WAS PAINFULLY OBVIOUS THAT RWY 6 HAS A HOLD LINE IN A SLIGHTLY ABNORMAL PLACE. IN THE FUTURE, I WILL DEFINITELY PAY MUCH CLOSER ATTN. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 478261: WE RECEIVED CLRNC TO TAXI TO RWY 6. THE CAPT WAS TAXIING THE ACFT WHILE I (THE FO) FINISHED REQUIRED CHKLISTS AND PAX ANNOUNCEMENT. AS WE APCHED THE ILS CRITICAL LINE, I WAS TALKING ON THE PA. AS WE PASSED THE ILS CRITICAL HOLD LINE. I FINISHED THE PA AND CHKLIST ABOUT 10 SECONDS LATER. GND CTL THEN CALLED US AND SAID WE HAD PASSED THE RWY HOLD SHORT LINE, BUT TO GO AHEAD AND TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD ON RWY 6. I HAD NO IDEA THE HOLD SHORT LINE WAS SO FAR AWAY FROM THE RWY. AN ILS CRITICAL HOLD YOU EXPECT TO BE IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A RWY HOLD SHORT PLACED SO FAR FROM THE THRESHOLD. I SHOULD HAVE PAID CLOSER ATTN WHILE RUNNING CHKLIST AND PA.
