Narrative:

We were cleared to lnd on runway 27R. Tower then cleared a B777 to takeoff on runway 32R. The timing of all this had the B777 cross our runway as we reached 200 ft. We adjusted our aim pt but still hit his jet wash. We were forced to go around. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: to avoid any jet wash from the B777, the reporter projected his touchdown point to where he believed, he would clear most of it. In doing so, he was most concerned about the amount of runway he would have left to make a stabilized approach, expecially since ord 27R is a very short. The captain claims that, even extending the touchdown point, he still encountered the B777's jet wash, which made for a very bumpy ride. He also claims that because of the turbulence, he felt he did not have positive control of the aircraft, so he elected to go around.

CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: TO AVOID ANY JET WASH FROM THE B777, THE RPTR PROJECTED HIS TOUCHDOWN POINT TO WHERE HE BELIEVED, HE WOULD CLEAR MOST OF IT. IN DOING SO, HE WAS MOST CONCERNED ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF RWY HE WOULD HAVE LEFT TO MAKE A STABILIZED APCH, EXPECIALLY SINCE ORD 27R IS A VERY SHORT. THE CAPTAIN CLAIMS THAT, EVEN EXTENDING THE TOUCHDOWN POINT, HE STILL ENCOUNTERED THE B777'S JET WASH, WHICH MADE FOR A VERY BUMPY RIDE. HE ALSO CLAIMS THAT BECAUSE OF THE TURBULENCE, HE FELT HE DID NOT HAVE POSITIVE CTL OF THE ACFT, SO HE ELECTED TO GAR.
