Narrative:
Took off from boeing field, relied on GPS (gx-50) moving map for class G guidance. Too many lines on screen and I interpreted it to mean I was under class B segment with base at 3000 ft. At 2200 ft, boeing tower informed me I should be at 1700 ft. Flew east at 1700 ft until clear, then back up to 3000 ft under class B airspace. Should not have relied on moving map. Should have calculated class B transition points with GPS or VOR/DME.
