Narrative:

Our commercial scheduled flight was cleared on a visual approach by radar approach and was handed off to gjt tower. We checked in at 10-15 mi sse. Tower asked my aircraft to report a 3 mi left base for runway 29. The aircraft entered the pattern and performed the landing checklist but, we were distracted by cockpit duties and thus the check in with tower at 3 mi out, and subsequent landing clearance was omitted. The contributing factors to this landing without a clearance include: increased crew workload at time of requested check in (landing checks), and misattention to duties. 20 yrs of flying this was my first no ATC clearance landing. We must stick to procedure and standard operating practices always.

Title: DH8B CREW LANDED WITHOUT CLRNC.

Narrative: OUR COMMERCIAL SCHEDULED FLT WAS CLRED ON A VISUAL APCH BY RADAR APCH AND WAS HANDED OFF TO GJT TWR. WE CHKED IN AT 10-15 MI SSE. TWR ASKED MY ACFT TO RPT A 3 MI L BASE FOR RWY 29. THE ACFT ENTERED THE PATTERN AND PERFORMED THE LNDG CHKLIST BUT, WE WERE DISTRACTED BY COCKPIT DUTIES AND THUS THE CHK IN WITH TWR AT 3 MI OUT, AND SUBSEQUENT LNDG CLRNC WAS OMITTED. THE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS TO THIS LNDG WITHOUT A CLRNC INCLUDE: INCREASED CREW WORKLOAD AT TIME OF REQUESTED CHK IN (LNDG CHKS), AND MISATTENTION TO DUTIES. 20 YRS OF FLYING THIS WAS MY FIRST NO ATC CLRNC LNDG. WE MUST STICK TO PROC AND STANDARD OPERATING PRACTICES ALWAYS.
