Narrative:

While in cruise at FL360, we requested and received clearance to deviate 20 NM north of course to avoid WX. During the deviation we encountered moderate turbulence including a substantial updraft followed by a downdraft of equal intensity. During the turbulence, a passenger in an aft lavatory sustained injuries. The seatbelt sign had been turned on and a PA announcement made prior to the deviation and prior to the turbulence. Medical personnel were located on board the aircraft to assist the passenger. Medical personnel also met the flight on arrival at destination.
