Narrative:

We were given an aircraft with the right EPR gauge MEL deferred inoperative. Per the MEL, there is power information to be obtained from the performance manual. Most everything was there, but climb and go around settings were given in EPR instead of N1. We set power on the right engine by setting EPR on the good engine gauge and matching the N1's to each other. I have been informed that may not have been a proper way to accomplish this.
