Narrative:

Local flying toward night currency. 1 soul onboard, no injuries. Known damage at time of incident: right main (fixed) gear collapsed while landing also causing some flap damage on that side, ground damage right wingtip on impact. This was a rental aircraft from local airport operator. Prior to the last takeoff/landing of the evening, I had performed 5 successful lndgs without incident. After the final touchdown on the 6TH landing, on paved runway 7, upon rollout, the plane pulled to the right and exhibited tendencies resembling a tire going flat. As the plane started to sag, I fought to keep it on the runway. The plane ran over runway lighting, taking out runway lights. I then rotated to the right and came to rest astride the south edge of the runway on the grass, approximately 2/3 down the length of the runway. After securing the airplane, notified FSS of the potential hazard to any arriving aircraft. The local sheriff's department arrived at about that time. Using their cell phone to talk to an FAA representative that they had been already in touch with, I spoke briefly with a representative, who said he would notify the detroit area ATC people and the airport manager. The deputies assessed the situation, then left the scene. I went back to the plane to attempt to cancel the flight. I do not know what caused the failure of the right main gear. The failure caused this incident. I just recently completed another phase of the wings safety program (pilot proficiency) with local cfii, and had been approved for flight in this aircraft, per local and FAA requirements.

Title: PA28-121 HAS GEAR COLLAPSE ON THE 6TH LNDG OF THE DAY.

Narrative: LCL FLYING TOWARD NIGHT CURRENCY. 1 SOUL ONBOARD, NO INJURIES. KNOWN DAMAGE AT TIME OF INCIDENT: R MAIN (FIXED) GEAR COLLAPSED WHILE LNDG ALSO CAUSING SOME FLAP DAMAGE ON THAT SIDE, GND DAMAGE R WINGTIP ON IMPACT. THIS WAS A RENTAL ACFT FROM LCL ARPT OPERATOR. PRIOR TO THE LAST TKOF/LNDG OF THE EVENING, I HAD PERFORMED 5 SUCCESSFUL LNDGS WITHOUT INCIDENT. AFTER THE FINAL TOUCHDOWN ON THE 6TH LNDG, ON PAVED RWY 7, UPON ROLLOUT, THE PLANE PULLED TO THE R AND EXHIBITED TENDENCIES RESEMBLING A TIRE GOING FLAT. AS THE PLANE STARTED TO SAG, I FOUGHT TO KEEP IT ON THE RWY. THE PLANE RAN OVER RWY LIGHTING, TAKING OUT RWY LIGHTS. I THEN ROTATED TO THE R AND CAME TO REST ASTRIDE THE S EDGE OF THE RWY ON THE GRASS, APPROX 2/3 DOWN THE LENGTH OF THE RWY. AFTER SECURING THE AIRPLANE, NOTIFIED FSS OF THE POTENTIAL HAZARD TO ANY ARRIVING ACFT. THE LCL SHERIFF'S DEPT ARRIVED AT ABOUT THAT TIME. USING THEIR CELL PHONE TO TALK TO AN FAA REPRESENTATIVE THAT THEY HAD BEEN ALREADY IN TOUCH WITH, I SPOKE BRIEFLY WITH A REPRESENTATIVE, WHO SAID HE WOULD NOTIFY THE DETROIT AREA ATC PEOPLE AND THE ARPT MGR. THE DEPUTIES ASSESSED THE SIT, THEN LEFT THE SCENE. I WENT BACK TO THE PLANE TO ATTEMPT TO CANCEL THE FLT. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE OF THE R MAIN GEAR. THE FAILURE CAUSED THIS INCIDENT. I JUST RECENTLY COMPLETED ANOTHER PHASE OF THE WINGS SAFETY PROGRAM (PLT PROFICIENCY) WITH LCL CFII, AND HAD BEEN APPROVED FOR FLT IN THIS ACFT, PER LCL AND FAA REQUIREMENTS.
