Narrative:

We expected runway 1R for departure at sfo. I briefed the departure prior to pushback. The taxi instructions were to taxi to runway 1L behind an aircraft that taxied out in front of us. We were at the intersection of txwys B and H and were told to contact tower. Tower told us to continue on taxiway H and into position and hold runway 1L at intersection H. I told the first officer to reset the takeoff power setting to maximum power for runway 1L. I thought he checked the QRH performance book, but he did not. I assumed we had takeoff data for runway 1L at taxiway H but we did not. The takeoff was normal and uneventful. I checked the performance book during climb out to see how much weight we could take off with on runway 1L, and then discovered no data for the intersection. The first officer did not check the performance book. He assumed maximum power would be more than enough for the takeoff. Do not assume anything. Check the book if an unusual situation occurs. Don't let external forces cause you to hurry the normal procedures. I always brief the first officer 'let's not rush.' but in this case I did not follow that advice. Do not rush.

Title: ACR CREW DEPARTS WITHOUT TKOF PERFORMANCE DATA AVAILABLE FOR THE RWY LENGTH USED.

Narrative: WE EXPECTED RWY 1R FOR DEP AT SFO. I BRIEFED THE DEP PRIOR TO PUSHBACK. THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS WERE TO TAXI TO RWY 1L BEHIND AN ACFT THAT TAXIED OUT IN FRONT OF US. WE WERE AT THE INTXN OF TXWYS B AND H AND WERE TOLD TO CONTACT TWR. TWR TOLD US TO CONTINUE ON TXWY H AND INTO POS AND HOLD RWY 1L AT INTXN H. I TOLD THE FO TO RESET THE TKOF PWR SETTING TO MAX PWR FOR RWY 1L. I THOUGHT HE CHKED THE QRH PERFORMANCE BOOK, BUT HE DID NOT. I ASSUMED WE HAD TKOF DATA FOR RWY 1L AT TXWY H BUT WE DID NOT. THE TKOF WAS NORMAL AND UNEVENTFUL. I CHKED THE PERFORMANCE BOOK DURING CLBOUT TO SEE HOW MUCH WT WE COULD TAKE OFF WITH ON RWY 1L, AND THEN DISCOVERED NO DATA FOR THE INTXN. THE FO DID NOT CHK THE PERFORMANCE BOOK. HE ASSUMED MAX PWR WOULD BE MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR THE TKOF. DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING. CHK THE BOOK IF AN UNUSUAL SIT OCCURS. DON'T LET EXTERNAL FORCES CAUSE YOU TO HURRY THE NORMAL PROCS. I ALWAYS BRIEF THE FO 'LET'S NOT RUSH.' BUT IN THIS CASE I DID NOT FOLLOW THAT ADVICE. DO NOT RUSH.
