Narrative:

ATC cleared the captain (PF) to cross wouds intersection at 11000 ft. I read back the clearance and went off radio to complete company business on another frequency. After returning to the frequency, ATC (ZMA) asked our altitude. Appears the captain had read the STAR to believe that wouds intersection was 64 mi off the srq VOR, when in fact it is 64 mi off pie VOR. ATC gave us an off course vector and we were at 11000 ft within 4 mi of wouds intersection. There were no other deviations and the flight continued and terminated normally.
