Narrative:

The first officer called the company to report our departure times. The company frequency was inadvertently placed on the #1 radio (following xmissions to the company). (We, therefore, were off the center frequency for a short time period.) we discovered that we were not communicating on the #1 radio with center and returned the #1 radio to center frequency. (We were climbing and had not yet reached our assigned altitude.) we checked in with center and they cleared us to a higher altitude. To prevent this from happening in the future, we should be more diligent in checking that we are indeed on the correct frequency (on the #1 radio frequency) after we have made xmissions on the #2 radio since an inadvertent xfer can take place with the style of radios installed on the type of aircraft we were flying.

Title: CREW MISTAKENLY SWITCHED OFF ATC COM.

Narrative: THE FO CALLED THE COMPANY TO RPT OUR DEP TIMES. THE COMPANY FREQ WAS INADVERTENTLY PLACED ON THE #1 RADIO (FOLLOWING XMISSIONS TO THE COMPANY). (WE, THEREFORE, WERE OFF THE CTR FREQ FOR A SHORT TIME PERIOD.) WE DISCOVERED THAT WE WERE NOT COMMUNICATING ON THE #1 RADIO WITH CTR AND RETURNED THE #1 RADIO TO CTR FREQ. (WE WERE CLBING AND HAD NOT YET REACHED OUR ASSIGNED ALT.) WE CHKED IN WITH CTR AND THEY CLRED US TO A HIGHER ALT. TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING IN THE FUTURE, WE SHOULD BE MORE DILIGENT IN CHKING THAT WE ARE INDEED ON THE CORRECT FREQ (ON THE #1 RADIO FREQ) AFTER WE HAVE MADE XMISSIONS ON THE #2 RADIO SINCE AN INADVERTENT XFER CAN TAKE PLACE WITH THE STYLE OF RADIOS INSTALLED ON THE TYPE OF ACFT WE WERE FLYING.
