Narrative:

While working on other cabin systems on aircraft xyz, I noticed wire sleeve for power port wiring abraded near right overwing exit (in seat track). I obtained MEL 25-32-xzxz from maintenance control. Upon reading this MEL afterward, my attention was brought to the activation/implementation date at the top of the page in our MEL book. The date is apr/xa/00. This placard becomes legal on that date. We are in violation of policy issuing this MEL.

Title: A B757-200 HAS A DEFERRED ITEM ENTERED ON A SEAT PWR PORT WIRING PER THE MEL, BUT LATER DISCOVERY INDICATES DATE OF ACTIVATION OF THE MEL USED IS 8 DAYS AFTER THE DEFERRAL.

Narrative: WHILE WORKING ON OTHER CABIN SYSTEMS ON ACFT XYZ, I NOTICED WIRE SLEEVE FOR PWR PORT WIRING ABRADED NEAR R OVERWING EXIT (IN SEAT TRACK). I OBTAINED MEL 25-32-XZXZ FROM MAINT CTL. UPON READING THIS MEL AFTERWARD, MY ATTN WAS BROUGHT TO THE ACTIVATION/IMPLEMENTATION DATE AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE IN OUR MEL BOOK. THE DATE IS APR/XA/00. THIS PLACARD BECOMES LEGAL ON THAT DATE. WE ARE IN VIOLATION OF POLICY ISSUING THIS MEL.
