Narrative:

It was confirmed on mar/xa/00 that 2 mechanics in my shop had built a set of compressor stator cases incorrectly (part number 9699m14go7). With the mistakes that were made on these cases, I am very concerned about work that these 2 mechanics have performed prior to this incident. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the 2 technicians have been given 4.5 hours training on the compressor buildup problem. The reporter said knowing the job was not the problem, but the willingness to do the job is what is lacking. The reporter said one individual is just lazy and the other has the ability to do the job, but has outside interests. The reporter stated the position the company has taken is for the lead technician to monitor and observe their work. The reporter said as a lead technician, 11 technicians are assigned to 1 lead for directing work and assignments. The reporter stated it is impossible to watch and monitor their every action, including inspection of any work accomplished.
