Narrative:

I allowed the passenger (a rated, experienced pilot) to make the approach and landing. At touchdown, the aircraft swerved to the right, then left. I announced 'I have the aircraft' and applied right rudder and brake. The other pilot responded 'you've got it,' and got clear of the controls. My rapid application of right rudder and brake overcorrected, and I tried to follow up with left rudder and brake. My foot caught momentarily on the stirrup which surrounds the rudder pedal, and by the time I got my foot on the brake, the aircraft had rotated too far to the right to prevent the gndloop. The left main gear folded inboard, and shortly thereafter the right main folded outboard. The aircraft came to rest 120 degrees to the landing direction on its belly.

Title: SMA INSTRUCTOR LOST CTL ON LNDG AND HAD LNDG GEAR COLLAPSE WHEN A GNDLOOP OCCURRED.

Narrative: I ALLOWED THE PAX (A RATED, EXPERIENCED PLT) TO MAKE THE APCH AND LNDG. AT TOUCHDOWN, THE ACFT SWERVED TO THE R, THEN L. I ANNOUNCED 'I HAVE THE ACFT' AND APPLIED R RUDDER AND BRAKE. THE OTHER PLT RESPONDED 'YOU'VE GOT IT,' AND GOT CLR OF THE CTLS. MY RAPID APPLICATION OF R RUDDER AND BRAKE OVERCORRECTED, AND I TRIED TO FOLLOW UP WITH L RUDDER AND BRAKE. MY FOOT CAUGHT MOMENTARILY ON THE STIRRUP WHICH SURROUNDS THE RUDDER PEDAL, AND BY THE TIME I GOT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE ACFT HAD ROTATED TOO FAR TO THE R TO PREVENT THE GNDLOOP. THE L MAIN GEAR FOLDED INBOARD, AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER THE R MAIN FOLDED OUTBOARD. THE ACFT CAME TO REST 120 DEGS TO THE LNDG DIRECTION ON ITS BELLY.
