Narrative:

Basically what happened is that we preflted the wrong aircraft and flew it to our destination. It was the last day of a 3 day trip and we showed in roc at XA30. Our company normally overnights only 1 aircraft in roc. When we showed up at the normal gate that displayed our flight to bwi, the gate agents met us with the paperwork and asked what time we wanted to start boarding. We proceeded to the aircraft and preflted it, boarded, and flew to bwi. Upon arrival at bwi, operations questioned us as to which aircraft we were flying. We then realized we were in the wrong aircraft. During preflight, I reviewed our flight release as normal, but I failed to catch it was the wrong aircraft. Nothing led me to doubt it was the wrong aircraft -- only 1 aircraft on the gate, the gate displayed our flight, the agents knew we were getting on the aircraft and asked when we would be ready. Bad WX the night before resulted in 2 diversions into roc and 3 of our aircraft overnighted. The other two were remote parked at another location, but we were never informed of this fact. Had I seen more than 1 aircraft on the ramp, I surely would have asked to make sure we were on the right aircraft.

Narrative: BASICALLY WHAT HAPPENED IS THAT WE PREFLTED THE WRONG ACFT AND FLEW IT TO OUR DEST. IT WAS THE LAST DAY OF A 3 DAY TRIP AND WE SHOWED IN ROC AT XA30. OUR COMPANY NORMALLY OVERNIGHTS ONLY 1 ACFT IN ROC. WHEN WE SHOWED UP AT THE NORMAL GATE THAT DISPLAYED OUR FLT TO BWI, THE GATE AGENTS MET US WITH THE PAPERWORK AND ASKED WHAT TIME WE WANTED TO START BOARDING. WE PROCEEDED TO THE ACFT AND PREFLTED IT, BOARDED, AND FLEW TO BWI. UPON ARR AT BWI, OPS QUESTIONED US AS TO WHICH ACFT WE WERE FLYING. WE THEN REALIZED WE WERE IN THE WRONG ACFT. DURING PREFLT, I REVIEWED OUR FLT RELEASE AS NORMAL, BUT I FAILED TO CATCH IT WAS THE WRONG ACFT. NOTHING LED ME TO DOUBT IT WAS THE WRONG ACFT -- ONLY 1 ACFT ON THE GATE, THE GATE DISPLAYED OUR FLT, THE AGENTS KNEW WE WERE GETTING ON THE ACFT AND ASKED WHEN WE WOULD BE READY. BAD WX THE NIGHT BEFORE RESULTED IN 2 DIVERSIONS INTO ROC AND 3 OF OUR ACFT OVERNIGHTED. THE OTHER TWO WERE REMOTE PARKED AT ANOTHER LOCATION, BUT WE WERE NEVER INFORMED OF THIS FACT. HAD I SEEN MORE THAN 1 ACFT ON THE RAMP, I SURELY WOULD HAVE ASKED TO MAKE SURE WE WERE ON THE RIGHT ACFT.
