Narrative:

The company filed a flight plan that requires RNAV equipment for an aircraft not RNAV equipped. ATC issued clearance as 'cleared as filed.' the clearance was accepted. After reviewing entire route of flight determined routing required RNAV equipment. A direct routing was requested using VOR navaids from center and no RNAV routing was actually used or flown.

Title: DC9 CREW GOT FLT PLAN THAT REQUIRED RNAV EQUIPPED ACFT.

Narrative: THE COMPANY FILED A FLT PLAN THAT REQUIRES RNAV EQUIP FOR AN ACFT NOT RNAV EQUIPPED. ATC ISSUED CLRNC AS 'CLRED AS FILED.' THE CLRNC WAS ACCEPTED. AFTER REVIEWING ENTIRE RTE OF FLT DETERMINED ROUTING REQUIRED RNAV EQUIP. A DIRECT ROUTING WAS REQUESTED USING VOR NAVAIDS FROM CTR AND NO RNAV ROUTING WAS ACTUALLY USED OR FLOWN.
