Narrative:

On climb out, our aircraft overshot an intermediate assigned altitude by approximately 300 ft. This occurred due to my (as the PF) delayed response in interping the autoflt system. We were told to level at 14000 ft and I had not engaged the autoplt yet. At the time of the leveloff, we were intercepting an airway. As I leveled off, our speed began increasing above the target speed and I hesitated in disconnecting the autothrottles when they were not doing what I expected them to do. With our speed and the distraction of the intercept, I went through the assigned altitude. The problem was caused by my hesitation in disconnecting the autothrottles. The corrective action came when the captain recognized this, disconnected the autothrottles and we descended to our altitude.

Title: FO OF AN MLG OVERSHOT AN INTERMEDIATE DEP ALT DUE TO DISTR OF THE AUTOFLT SYS REACTION.

Narrative: ON CLBOUT, OUR ACFT OVERSHOT AN INTERMEDIATE ASSIGNED ALT BY APPROX 300 FT. THIS OCCURRED DUE TO MY (AS THE PF) DELAYED RESPONSE IN INTERPING THE AUTOFLT SYS. WE WERE TOLD TO LEVEL AT 14000 FT AND I HAD NOT ENGAGED THE AUTOPLT YET. AT THE TIME OF THE LEVELOFF, WE WERE INTERCEPTING AN AIRWAY. AS I LEVELED OFF, OUR SPD BEGAN INCREASING ABOVE THE TARGET SPD AND I HESITATED IN DISCONNECTING THE AUTOTHROTTLES WHEN THEY WERE NOT DOING WHAT I EXPECTED THEM TO DO. WITH OUR SPD AND THE DISTR OF THE INTERCEPT, I WENT THROUGH THE ASSIGNED ALT. THE PROB WAS CAUSED BY MY HESITATION IN DISCONNECTING THE AUTOTHROTTLES. THE CORRECTIVE ACTION CAME WHEN THE CAPT RECOGNIZED THIS, DISCONNECTED THE AUTOTHROTTLES AND WE DSNDED TO OUR ALT.
