Narrative:
On feb/xa/00 in-flight pvr-den, during descent to den, I did 'larks 1 arrival' and we were cleared to cross at 17000 ft over larks intersection. But in this occasion, without speed restr, we were flying with GPS connect. I had a mistake to add the distances from we were to larks intersection. When I did a double check I programmed the GPS to show me the distance from we were until larks intersection. In this moment I knew that I was at 35 NM before larks intersection. I descended quickly from FL330 until 17000 ft, but I was crossing at FL220 over larks intersection and we were leveled at 17000 ft 10 NM after larks intersection. I had other mistake -- I never told to den control that I had crossed larks intersection over 17000 ft if they cleared me to cross 17000 ft after larks intersection. I think I not caused any problem because it was XA30 and the traffic was light in the area, and it was not necessary any deviation. I understand that the instructions of ATC to cross any point, we must to do most exactly possible -- this way will be most careful to prevent sits like this.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B727 CREW DID NOT COMPLY WITH THE ASSIGNED XING ALT ON THE LARKS 3 INTO DEN.
Narrative: ON FEB/XA/00 INFLT PVR-DEN, DURING DSCNT TO DEN, I DID 'LARKS 1 ARR' AND WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS AT 17000 FT OVER LARKS INTXN. BUT IN THIS OCCASION, WITHOUT SPD RESTR, WE WERE FLYING WITH GPS CONNECT. I HAD A MISTAKE TO ADD THE DISTANCES FROM WE WERE TO LARKS INTXN. WHEN I DID A DOUBLE CHK I PROGRAMMED THE GPS TO SHOW ME THE DISTANCE FROM WE WERE UNTIL LARKS INTXN. IN THIS MOMENT I KNEW THAT I WAS AT 35 NM BEFORE LARKS INTXN. I DSNDED QUICKLY FROM FL330 UNTIL 17000 FT, BUT I WAS XING AT FL220 OVER LARKS INTXN AND WE WERE LEVELED AT 17000 FT 10 NM AFTER LARKS INTXN. I HAD OTHER MISTAKE -- I NEVER TOLD TO DEN CTL THAT I HAD CROSSED LARKS INTXN OVER 17000 FT IF THEY CLRED ME TO CROSS 17000 FT AFTER LARKS INTXN. I THINK I NOT CAUSED ANY PROB BECAUSE IT WAS XA30 AND THE TFC WAS LIGHT IN THE AREA, AND IT WAS NOT NECESSARY ANY DEV. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE INSTRUCTIONS OF ATC TO CROSS ANY POINT, WE MUST TO DO MOST EXACTLY POSSIBLE -- THIS WAY WILL BE MOST CAREFUL TO PREVENT SITS LIKE THIS.
