Narrative:

We received our clearance via ACARS, both pilots reviewed the clearance and agreed there was no departure SID, most probably due to runway and direction of flight. Sitting #3 for departure on runway 22R bos, the other aircraft were getting headings as they departed and I advised the first officer (PF) we would probably get a hard left turn after takeoff. We were now cleared for takeoff, the tower frequency was busy due to other runway traffic and traffic holding short are runway, no heading given. After airborne tower advised, 'contact departure' (still no heading). I contacted departure and shortly thereafter they asked our heading. I advised runway heading and they asked what heading tower assigned, I advised none. We were then given a 090 degree heading and a short discussion about the logan two SID. At this time I reviewed the printed ACARS clearance again and found the line I had missed before logan 2 departure. Corrective action. How could both pilots miss the same line on the ACARS printout of the clearance? Some suggestion for the printout, put it in chronicle order. Push and taxi information on top then departure information, then en route information, etc. Don't put caf, (cleared as filed) without inserting the SID. Thinking back to other bos departures the tower always gave us the SID heading when taking off and usually again when changing to departure. I don't know why we didn't get that information this time but it would have helped catch our error.

Title: A320 CREW HAD TRACK DEV DEPARTING RWY 22R AT BOS.

Narrative: WE RECEIVED OUR CLRNC VIA ACARS, BOTH PLTS REVIEWED THE CLRNC AND AGREED THERE WAS NO DEP SID, MOST PROBABLY DUE TO RWY AND DIRECTION OF FLT. SITTING #3 FOR DEP ON RWY 22R BOS, THE OTHER ACFT WERE GETTING HEADINGS AS THEY DEPARTED AND I ADVISED THE FO (PF) WE WOULD PROBABLY GET A HARD L TURN AFTER TKOF. WE WERE NOW CLRED FOR TKOF, THE TWR FREQ WAS BUSY DUE TO OTHER RWY TFC AND TFC HOLDING SHORT ARE RWY, NO HEADING GIVEN. AFTER AIRBORNE TWR ADVISED, 'CONTACT DEP' (STILL NO HEADING). I CONTACTED DEP AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER THEY ASKED OUR HEADING. I ADVISED RWY HEADING AND THEY ASKED WHAT HEADING TWR ASSIGNED, I ADVISED NONE. WE WERE THEN GIVEN A 090 DEG HDG AND A SHORT DISCUSSION ABOUT THE LOGAN TWO SID. AT THIS TIME I REVIEWED THE PRINTED ACARS CLRNC AGAIN AND FOUND THE LINE I HAD MISSED BEFORE LOGAN 2 DEP. CORRECTIVE ACTION. HOW COULD BOTH PLTS MISS THE SAME LINE ON THE ACARS PRINTOUT OF THE CLRNC? SOME SUGGESTION FOR THE PRINTOUT, PUT IT IN CHRONICLE ORDER. PUSH AND TAXI INFO ON TOP THEN DEP INFO, THEN ENRTE INFO, ETC. DON'T PUT CAF, (CLRED AS FILED) WITHOUT INSERTING THE SID. THINKING BACK TO OTHER BOS DEPS THE TWR ALWAYS GAVE US THE SID HEADING WHEN TAKING OFF AND USUALLY AGAIN WHEN CHANGING TO DEP. I DON'T KNOW WHY WE DIDN'T GET THAT INFO THIS TIME BUT IT WOULD HAVE HELPED CATCH OUR ERROR.
