Narrative:

On traffic survey, I was requested to enter class B airspace by my reporter. I contacted cleveland approach with my request and understood I was 'cleared to class B airspace' and I was given a transponder code. I read back this transmission and continued following the route I requested. There was a change of controllers and I did not receive my instructions, even as I approached the departure end of the active runway. I maintained visual separation from departing traffic and when I got contact with cleveland approach to discover why I lost communication, I was told I was not cleared into class B airspace. I am confused as to why I received no response to my readback and no further advisory, as I remained on the original frequency. It was a busy morning and it was likely there was a miscom somewhere. I wish I knew exactly when and where it took place. Help.
