Narrative:

At XA18Z on departure from psp had what flight crew would call a loss of separation. Clearance to 13000 ft on a 150 degree heading direct tnp when we observed a TA descending in our flight path. We leveled the aircraft at 12400 ft. When aircraft Y checked on our frequency he said he had been cleared to 12000 ft. He was given an immediate left turn to maintain vertical and lateral separation. I called the psp tower supervisor in dallas and he informed me that they had reviewed the radar track and they determined we never loss separation with aircraft Y and had 1200 ft vertical and 5 NM lateral separation. Tower supervisor stated no further action would be taken.
