Narrative:

Prior to takeoff SID for lga runway 13, whitstone climb was briefed without any questions as to what procedures to follow. Captain made takeoff turned to 080 degrees and while climbing on that heading I, the PNF had to retune departure frequency. When I looked back up I realized the captain had overflown the 2.5 DME turn-point. I was just about to say something when departure control gave us a left turn and new altitude. The turn is necessary to keep out of kennedy's airspace. My distraction with the radio frequency precluded me from backing up the PF in a fast, complicated SID. Will try and remember the priorities of flying, aviate, navigation, communicate.
