Narrative:
Air carrier X checked in at FL220 and on a heading of 260 degrees. I asked if the heading was assigned in that no heading was coordinated. Lack of coordination is an all too common occurrence these days. Air carrier X was confused as to what the heading was for. In addition, he wasn't sure how he was to navigation to atl. His clearance was bzm (barretts mountain) direct atl. I issued him the correct routing to atl. Turns out that his original flight plan had timed out and lyh tower had put a new one in. They evidently didn't know the correct routing and just made one up. When we only worked 5000 airplanes a day we might have time for this junk. Working 8000+ a day we don't. This aircraft went through 2-3 sectors before mine and no one either noticed it or fixed it.
