Narrative:

While teaching/practicing slips to a landing at south county airport, I allowed the aircraft to come closer to a kennel building on the approach end of runway 32 than I would like or feel comfortable with. I demonstrated a slip to the left and then to the right. It was this slip to the right that I came close to the kennel. Maybe I'll never hear anything from this but I sure feel uncomfortable picturing in my mind the closeness of the trees next to the building as we passed. Having taught many lndgs at this airport, I've often wondered in the past how many aircraft come close to this building because a lower than normal approach brings you right beside the building -- something that can happen easily with a student. An open field makes this essentially no problem except for this building.

Title: AN INSTRUCTOR PERMITS ACFT TO OPERATE IN CLOSE PROX TO TREES AND A BUILDING WHILE TEACHING SLIPS AT Q99.

Narrative: WHILE TEACHING/PRACTICING SLIPS TO A LNDG AT SOUTH COUNTY ARPT, I ALLOWED THE ACFT TO COME CLOSER TO A KENNEL BUILDING ON THE APCH END OF RWY 32 THAN I WOULD LIKE OR FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH. I DEMONSTRATED A SLIP TO THE L AND THEN TO THE R. IT WAS THIS SLIP TO THE R THAT I CAME CLOSE TO THE KENNEL. MAYBE I'LL NEVER HEAR ANYTHING FROM THIS BUT I SURE FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE PICTURING IN MY MIND THE CLOSENESS OF THE TREES NEXT TO THE BUILDING AS WE PASSED. HAVING TAUGHT MANY LNDGS AT THIS ARPT, I'VE OFTEN WONDERED IN THE PAST HOW MANY ACFT COME CLOSE TO THIS BUILDING BECAUSE A LOWER THAN NORMAL APCH BRINGS YOU RIGHT BESIDE THE BUILDING -- SOMETHING THAT CAN HAPPEN EASILY WITH A STUDENT. AN OPEN FIELD MAKES THIS ESSENTIALLY NO PROB EXCEPT FOR THIS BUILDING.
