Narrative:

Flight from gsu direct pit. Shortly after takeoff, cleared direct ihd.mesto 1. I went to lavatory -- came back. Captain did not advise me of any changes and then he went to lavatory. I noticed no radar. Queried captain when he came back. He said he didn't recall an answer when he checked in. I took out a chart, found a frequency appropriate to our location. That controller said he 'had been calling' and descended us to 11000 ft. This was a normal descent location. No more was said about this. The frequency we were on was an appropriate frequency but when we tried to raise center, no answer. So it may have died (reference the controller said 'I've been calling'). We may have called the controller that was working that sector as well as our old sector.

Title: FLC OF A DORNIER 328 TEMPORARILY LOST COMS WITH ARTCC RESULTING IN MISSING CLRNC TO A LOWER ALT.

Narrative: FLT FROM GSU DIRECT PIT. SHORTLY AFTER TKOF, CLRED DIRECT IHD.MESTO 1. I WENT TO LAVATORY -- CAME BACK. CAPT DID NOT ADVISE ME OF ANY CHANGES AND THEN HE WENT TO LAVATORY. I NOTICED NO RADAR. QUERIED CAPT WHEN HE CAME BACK. HE SAID HE DIDN'T RECALL AN ANSWER WHEN HE CHKED IN. I TOOK OUT A CHART, FOUND A FREQ APPROPRIATE TO OUR LOCATION. THAT CTLR SAID HE 'HAD BEEN CALLING' AND DSNDED US TO 11000 FT. THIS WAS A NORMAL DSCNT LOCATION. NO MORE WAS SAID ABOUT THIS. THE FREQ WE WERE ON WAS AN APPROPRIATE FREQ BUT WHEN WE TRIED TO RAISE CTR, NO ANSWER. SO IT MAY HAVE DIED (REF THE CTLR SAID 'I'VE BEEN CALLING'). WE MAY HAVE CALLED THE CTLR THAT WAS WORKING THAT SECTOR AS WELL AS OUR OLD SECTOR.
