Narrative:

This was my first solo flight. We did 2 full stop taxi backs using runway 16. There were a couple of other planes in the pattern during this time. I let my instructor out after the second landing and proceeded to taxi to runway 16. Wind direction was neutral, but since we and other aircraft had been using runway 16, I stayed with runway 16. There was no traffic in the pattern at this time. Right before I rolled onto runway 16, I heard faint static filled radio call on CTAF. Since it sounded so bad, I thought it was a distant aircraft entering the valley. I then announced I was rolling onto runway 16 for takeoff. Right after that, the other aircraft announced they were taking off on runway 34. I immediately started to turn around, but before I could, I saw the other aircraft lifting off midway down the runway. I stopped where I was, which was over to the left side of the runway numbers. The other aircraft turned away before it flew over me. The situation could have been avoided if I had called on the radio immediately and notified the other aircraft, or if the other aircraft used the same runway that had been used for the last 30 mins. This same aircraft had used runway 16 just 15 mins prior.
