Narrative:

Descending out of approximately 7500 ft, first officer thought he heard our flight cleared to 3000 ft. He set 3000 in the window and I acknowledged it, even though the controller was talking and I did not verify it. The controller later said we took a clearance that was given to a company aircraft. We both will verify it next time! Supplemental information from acn 459992: captain was momentarily distraction, then took first officer's word for altitude clearance, acknowledged frequency change without altitude verification.
