Narrative:

#1 flight attendant and I had just finished service. I was walking through the cabin to make sure all passenger were ok, and the turbulence started. I went and sat in my jump seat. As the turbulence worsened, I put my seatbelt on. All the passenger were seated. It lasted for about 3-5 mins. Afterwards, the captain apologized to passenger for the inconvenience. Everyone was fine. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that the seatbelt sign had already been turned on for the start of their descent, so everyone was buckled in, except for the cabin crew. The captain hadn't forecast the turbulence, so he didn't tell the cabin crew to be seated. The reporter stated that she didn't think to fasten her seatbelt until the turbulence became more severe. The captain later apologized for the 'severe' turbulence (his words). Being brand new, it was the first turbulence she had been through, so she didn't have anything to compare it to.
