Narrative:

Earlier in the week, aircraft xyz had an engine failure in-flight. The aircraft did not have any 219 engines so they intermixed a 217 with a 219 engine on the aircraft. We accepted this aircraft in sfo on dec/xa/99 and were advised by incoming crew of the intermix engine and were assured we had everything completed by maintenance. We had about a 40 min turn so we did not have much time to research this further, as we had many duties to accomplish. En route we researched the logbook further and it appeared as though it was not placarded properly and the question came up as to which engine should appear on the FMS. The write-up was not available to us in the aircraft. After arriving in mke, we looked up flight operations bulletin xx-13 and found both the FMS was incorrect and placard in aircraft incorrect. This whole situation could have been eliminated with a better follow-up by maintenance initially or by having better communication with pilots. (Flight operations bulletin XX13 available in aircraft.)

Narrative: EARLIER IN THE WK, ACFT XYZ HAD AN ENG FAILURE INFLT. THE ACFT DID NOT HAVE ANY 219 ENGS SO THEY INTERMIXED A 217 WITH A 219 ENG ON THE ACFT. WE ACCEPTED THIS ACFT IN SFO ON DEC/XA/99 AND WERE ADVISED BY INCOMING CREW OF THE INTERMIX ENG AND WERE ASSURED WE HAD EVERYTHING COMPLETED BY MAINT. WE HAD ABOUT A 40 MIN TURN SO WE DID NOT HAVE MUCH TIME TO RESEARCH THIS FURTHER, AS WE HAD MANY DUTIES TO ACCOMPLISH. ENRTE WE RESEARCHED THE LOGBOOK FURTHER AND IT APPEARED AS THOUGH IT WAS NOT PLACARDED PROPERLY AND THE QUESTION CAME UP AS TO WHICH ENG SHOULD APPEAR ON THE FMS. THE WRITE-UP WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO US IN THE ACFT. AFTER ARRIVING IN MKE, WE LOOKED UP FLT OPS BULLETIN XX-13 AND FOUND BOTH THE FMS WAS INCORRECT AND PLACARD IN ACFT INCORRECT. THIS WHOLE SIT COULD HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED WITH A BETTER FOLLOW-UP BY MAINT INITIALLY OR BY HAVING BETTER COM WITH PLTS. (FLT OPS BULLETIN XX13 AVAILABLE IN ACFT.)
